A Day at the Cabin

Last weekend William and I joined some of the Young gang up at their cabin up past the Timpanogas (spelling?) Caves. We had such a fun time. I was a little worried about how William would do with the long drive, but he was great. The timing was perfect and he slept the whole way there, and part of the way back, but was pleasant the rest of the way. He is such a good baby!! Andrea and Thomas came up, which made the drive so nice. Thomas was also super good, and it was fun to chat with Andrea the whole time.
After lunch, Natalie and Grandma stayed back with Landon while Grandpa took Kensie, Lincoln, and Jackson on a mini hike. Andrea and I had brought our carriers and joined them.
William didn't last long though. After about twenty minutes he zonked out. I turned him around so he was facing me and he slept the whole hike (not to make it sound like he slept the whole day! He just took his naps at the perfect moments!). This baby carrier has been the best. I definitely recommend it! It's so convenient and easy to use. He didn't wake up at all when I turned him around.
Here is Andrea with cute Thomas. We are a binky loving family. Everything was so green. It was so nice to walk around and soak it all in. I loved when we walked past one of the newer cabins, which had a satellite dish on the roof. Grandpa commented "Looks like they have a dish!" And Jackson, innocently looking around for a plate asked "What dish?"
Jackson is Grandpa's little sidekick!
Grandpa Young helped us find all kinds of treasures. Here is Kensie showing off part of the bird eggshells she found.Kensie is so good with all these little boys! They all love her. I think it was rough to accept that even after all these little babies she is still the only girl, but I don't know what we'd do without her!
Thomas and William are good buds all ready!

Our drooly boy! It doesn't matter how often we cut his fingernails, his poor little face is never without a little scratch or two!

We are looking forward to future trips to the cabin! Hooray for summer!

What a charmer!

Yesterday I had to run to the post office, so I put William in the front carrier. He loves looking around and watching people. Waiting in line I noticed that a couple of the workers were pretty upbeat while a couple seemed to be pretty cranky. As I stood in the front of the line waiting for my turn, the next spot opened, and instead of saying "I can help the next person" the lady made eye contact with me and did a head nod that said "It's already been a long day so you better not have a complicated request or a stupid question." I walked over to her and told her what I needed with her hardly looking up the whole time. I think Will could sense her crankiness and didn't like it because he let out a loud "ah-gooo!" as he put on his biggest grin for this postal lady. It did the trick! I think he melted her heart. She completely changed and was so nice to us until we finished. Way to go William!

tummy time!

4 month checkup

William had his four month check up last week. This kid is sure growing! Here are his stats:
Weight: 14 lbs 3 oz (37th percentile)
Length: 25.5 inches (74th percentile)
He is quite the talker these days and loves to wiggle! He's not quite rolling over yet, but loves to twist around.
He's had a hard time sleeping for the last month or so (rarely making it past 2, when he was going until at least 4 every night), so his doctor said we should try giving him rice cereal before he goes to bed. He said it doesn't work for all kids, but it might help. So we tried it and he is improving so much! Last night he slept until 5:15. Heaven! I woke up around 4 out of habit and almost had to check to make sure he was still breathing! I was surprised at how well he eats the cereal! It sure seems to be doing the trick.
We're lucky to have such a happy boy! He's so curious and calm, but definitely keeps us on our toes!

Welcome Landon and Happy Birthday Jackson and Grandpa!

This post is a little late, but we wanted to congratulate Natalie and Matt on their cute new baby boy, Landon. He is a doll! What a cute baby. I couldn't believe how big William looked next to Landon, and how little Landon is! Especially considering that he was a full 2 pounds bigger than Will was at birth! He's a cutie!
Last Sunday we also got to celebrate Grandpa's and Jackson's birthday. Natalie always makes the cutest and yummiest cakes for her kids birthdays and this year Jackson requested a frog.
For his birthday we decided to give him a reversible superhero costume. It was a hit! as he put it on it seemed like everything about him changed. He stood up a little taller and pushed his shoulders out and chest out! He ran and jumped on the couch next to his mom and said "I LOVE wearing this!" So cute. We also decided that superhero costumes are more fun if he had someone to play with, so we made one for Lincoln as well.
William even got in on the super hero action. He however, was not as keen on posing for the pictures. Here is cute Kensie with Landon. She is so good with these babies! Here is Spiderman doing what he does best: Walking up walls (tetherball poles are a little easier to climb though...)!
